Today I'm hopping over to Nancy @ A Rural Journal and Lisa @ Two Bears Farm for their brand new Rural Thursday Blog Hop. I love their Blog Hop button, don't you?
The idea behind this Hop is for bloggers to "share information and photos about what's currently happening in and around their rural/country/farm home." So, okay. Here we go.
Monday afternoon I looked up from my writing to see this bull elk outside our cabin. I grabbed my trusty shotgun and. . .no, no, just kidding. I grabbed my trusty camera and and began to focus. Suddenly, the bull leaped over our fence. I got the shot just as he landed.
We live 10 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. Wildlife is protected here.
I noticed Tuesday night, while cooking dinner, how the days are getting longer. Still light at 5:45 PM I could clearly see the horses in the corral from my window over the kitchen sink. Of course I had to grab my camera and get a shot for you.
I love my neighbor's horses. Seeing them from my kitchen window always brings a smile to my face.
Yesterday I took this photo of our barn turned artist studio.
My husband's art studio (and a little bit of storage for me).
I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille. . .
The Log Barn is 150 years old. It's likely it was the original homestead cabin.
These mule deer at the end of our drive critiqued my photography skills.
The deer and elk come down from the mountain behind the barn to visit. We have a deal...they can graze on our homestead all they want and in exchange they pose for me.
Our homestead is surrounded by mountains.

Back to our cabin for coffee and more writing.
We bought our 1926 cabin and completely remodeled it ourselves last spring. Notice the snow shovel and bag of salt? We're in between snow storms right now. But ready for one expected tonight.
That's a look at our homestead this week. What's going on in your rural world?
