Saturday Share - Moraine Park, Rocky Mountain National Park

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountain is going home; that wildness is necessity; that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life.” -- John Muir

"Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains were born
Or You gave birth to the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."
Psalm 90:1-3

In the Pink

Please pray for the families that have lost loved one and homes in the recent tornadoes.

At dusk last night the deer came down to graze our homestead. I saw this particular young buck through the geraniums in front of the window and loved the vignette. With the evening light it already had a dream-like quality, so I just enhanced it a bit with photo editor. You can't really see the deer's antlers, so just let me tell you they're little more than spikes.

For those of you who hate word verification (and believe me, I don't blame you) I've disabled it on all my blogs, including my new one "A Joyful Cottage". If you hesitated to enter our giveaway at A Joyful Cottage because of word verification, please know that I have just discovered it was enabled and I have thrown the annoying thing out. So feel free to click here and enter the giveaway. I really think it's worth doing so. We're offering a lovely 5x7 print of my husband's original artwork.

Blessings,

Nancy

Celebrate

Truckin' Flowers - Taos, NM
"Each day, awakening, are we asked to paint the sky blue? Need we coax the sun to rise or flowers to bloom? Need we teach birds to sing, or children to laugh, or lovers to kiss? No, though we think the world imperfect, it surrounds us each day with its perfections. We are asked only to appreciate them, and to show appreciation by living in peaceful harmony amidst them. The Creator does not ask that we create a perfect world; He asks that we celebrate it." ~Robert Brault

Go out and celebrate God's world today.
Blessings,

Nancy

Morning Glory

"The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands."
Psalm 19:1

“The psalmist paints an unforgettable scene of the horizon
exploding in vigorous, radiant sunrise."

Gentle Comfort

So many of our friends are in the midst of trials right now: the loss of loved ones or illness,  financial difficulties or broken relationships. These images and thoughts are especially for those who are hurting today. May God's love light shine on you and give you strength and comfort.

"Beautiful light is born of darkness, so the faith that springs from conflict is often the strongest and the best." -- R. Turnbull

It was a happy thought to bring
To the dark season's frost and rime
This painted memory of spring,
This dream of summertime.

John Greenleaf Whitter -- From his poem "Flowers in the Winter"

As lilies fair from the foul mud grow,
So oft it is with good men below;
In daily life they absorb the pure,
And the adverse elements endure;
And rise, through grace, to a higher sphere,
Their hearts in heaven, and their root down here.

Joseph Horatio Chant from his poem "Water Lily"
Watercolor by artist Dennis Reinke
