Snowbound

I like this photo taken through our front window  because there's blue sky behind the icicles.

Which is nice.

Because it means, for now at least, it's not snowing.

Three feet of snow in three days and I've been housebound.

Here's a summary of my rural life this week.

I watched my car slowly disappear from view.

I watched the elk descend from the mountain,
through our homestead and cross the street.
(Yes, that is a For Sale sign in our yard.
We put our house on the market this week.
And no, we're not sure where we moving to. Yet.
But I'm hoping for someplace that doesn't snow in April.)

I watched my husband brave the elements and attempt to dig us out.

 I cooked.

 I baked.

I baked some more.

And I took photographs.

I think I need to make a trip to the store for more flour before it starts snowing again.

    1. Thanks, Theresa. We're the adventurous types, so circling until we find a suitable landing site doesn't bother either one of us. LOL It'll be fun to see where we end up. Provided the house sells.

    1. I'm not a winter person, Beth. Which is pretty odd since I live in the heart of winter here. The saving grace for me is that the sun usually comes out son after a snowfall and warms everything up. Dennis is a bit of the type who gets "cabin fever". I think he used to enjoy the snow here, but now he's ready to head to a place where spring comes earlier than here. I think it's our age talking.

  4. Ohmy, I did not know winter lasted that long anywhere. We did travel to Monarch Pass early one summer, June I think, and it did snow on us but only slightly. My girls thought swimming in the hot tub out in the snow was great fun. The elk shot is beautiful.

    1. We drove through Glenwood Springs, Colorado a couple of weeks ago when there was snow on the ground and people bathing in the hot springs. It is really neat to see that. Have a great weekend.

    1. Lynne, forgive me please. I hit the wrong button and wiped out your comment. Absolutely unintentional, and I can't get it back. I'm so sorry. Thank you for your comment. You're right, snow is very typical for the mountains in April. However, I've been here three years and I haven't seen it snow continually like this for three days in a row in April. Usually we get a big snow in a 24 hour period and then it melts off. It sounds like you have a nice getaway place. We live here year round and I miss seeing spring arrive in March/April. Take care and thanks for stopping by.

  6. What an amazing sight of the elk walking down the road! Three feet of snow in three days is way more than I would like.
Good luck with the house sale and the moving plans.
