A Perfect Blend

As I photographed this buck
I marveled at how he blended into the landscape.
His coloring a marvelous camouflage
amid the rocks and trees in our backyard.
All part of God's perfect design to protect
this beautiful creature from predators.
And a reminder that He is intimately familiar
with all He has created.

"You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
    You perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
    You are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
    You, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
    and You lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain."

    1. The mule deer here are not afraid of humans. Because we live in a protected area, they are never in danger of being hunted. Oh, and our neighbor feeds them every morning, so they usually hang around to see if we might have a handout too. Feeding them is not a good idea. It makes them dependent upon humans instead of foraging, which is their natural instinct and ultimately their survival.

    1. I think the snow really adds to it. Without the white the photo would be pretty bland. Thanks for stopping by.
